  • Frigid COLD weather ALERT: With the impending frigid cold temperatures predicted Castine will have warming shelters available. If you need assistance or a place to get warm, please contact the Castine Fire Rescue Dept at 207-326-8767. There will be staff monitoring the phone from 3:30PM Friday, 2/3/23 to 3:30PM Saturday, 2/4/23. During the day on Friday the Town Office will be open regular business hours 8AM to 3:30PM contact 207-326-4502 if you need to.
  • Transfer Station & Witherle Memorial Library NOTICE – Closed Saturday: Transfer Station & Witherle Memorial Library CLOSED Saturday, February 4, 2023.  Due to the severe cold predictions on Saturday (windchill temps of -45 degrees) the transfer station & Witherle Memorial Library will be closed.  We apologize for any inconveniences this cause. For trash disposal, please utilize curbside pickup of trash on Monday, February 6.  Have stickered bags out by 7:30AM for pickup.

  • Meet & Greet Selectboard Member Roberta Boczkiewicz: Newly elected Selectboard member, Roberta Boczkiewicz, will be at Town Hall from 2PM – 4PM on the following dates: Monday, 2/6/23, if you wish to stop by to meet her and/or discuss any issues with her.
  • Recycling Update: There are STRICT changes in the recycling program going forward. Brochures are available at the Town Office and on the Town’s website. Please note: 1) ACCEPTED items ONLY; 2) recyclable items MUST be CLEAN; 3) cardboard must be cut into 2′ X 2′ sections for disposal. Attention: due to the Recycling Facility Zero-Sort equipment, shredded paper is a recycling item that cannot be ACCEPTED.   • 2023 Dog Registrations: 2023 Dog Registrations were due by 1/31. There is now a $25 late fee applied to the $6 Spayed/Neutered or $11 Non-spayed/Non-neutered registration fees. Proof of Rabies Vaccination is required. REMINDER: Please remember that dogs need to be leashed or owners need to have verbal control of their dogs when out walking around the community at all times. Also, DO NOT leave doggy waste, please scoop the poop!!
  • Emerson Hall: In the Building at the Counter and outside Window Services (open M-F 8AM to 3:30PM)
  • Emerson Hall Drop Off Box:
    There is a Drop Off Box near the front doors of Emerson Hall for your convenience to drop off water/sewer payments, tax bill payments, paperwork, etc.
    The Town Office staff will be checking it regularly.  Thank you
