There is a fee of $1.00 per bag up to 15lbs or $2.00 per bag up to 35lbs to dispose of trash whether dropped off at the Transfer Station or picked up curbside. Stickers are available at the Town Office and Auxford Market. The Transfer Station attendant can also accept payment.
The Castine Transfer Station is open Tuesday through Friday from 8:00am to 1:00pm and Saturdays from 8:00am to Noon. It is closed on Sunday and Monday.
Curbside pickup of stickered non-recyclable waste occurs each Monday. Items should be out by 7:30am. When a holiday falls on a Monday, pickup will occur on Tuesday.
Curbside recycling is scheduled for the first and third Tuesdays of each month. In the case of inclement weather, such as a snow storm, please hold recyclables for the next scheduled pickup day. NOTE: During the summer months curbside recycling takes place weekly and will be posted.

If arriving in Castine by boat, trash disposal is available at the Harbor Master’s Office at the Town Dock for $2.00 per bag. See a dock attendant for assistance.
