Fairs & Festivities

As weather turns brisk and snowflakes begin to fall, Castine gets into the holiday spirit. Shops and galleries look especially festive for the season and you’ll find decorated holiday trees brimming with twinkling lights! Four churches anchor Castine and each brings honored traditions and special holiday events for young and old alike. From candle light services and a children’s choir to holiday fairs and bake sales, you feel welcome as you take in the festivities.

An Ideal Season for a Tranquil Vacation

January through April is the quiet season in Castine, but cross country skiing and snow shoeing are great activities at some of the historic parks and forts. This is the time of year that many of the innkeepers take a well-deserved vacation and make necessary improvements to their properties. Shopkeepers are off on buying sprees stocking up for the busy season and some restaurants close or have limited hours. Be sure to check our website for a business directory and call ahead to ensure we offer what you want during our slower season.

Fill your calendar with cross-country skiing, indoor and outdoor activities.
