Schedule of Rates of the Castine Water Department
Effective January 1, 2024.
Quarterly and Seasonal Rates for Water to Metered Customers.

Quarterly Rate
A minimum meter charge for 800 cubic feet as listed below.
For the next 1600 cubic feet per quarter: $12.75 per 100 cu. ft.
For all in excess of 2,400 cubic feet per quarter: $14.90 per 100 cu. ft. Quarterly billing occurs in April, July, October, and January.

Seasonal Rate
A minimum meter charge for 1,100 cubic feet as listed below.
For the next 1,600 cubic feet per season: $12.75 per 100 cu. ft.
For all in excess of 2,700 cubic feet per season: $14.90 per 100 cu. ft. Seasonal billing occurs in April for minimum water and in December for any water overage and sewer.

Annual Rates Fire Protection – Private Service

For each fire hydrant installed on owner’s premises: $1,948.80.

For each service main entering a building for the supply of standpipes or sprinklers, an annual charge according to the diameter of the service as follows:

2″ service $649.60
4″ service 1,299.20
6″ service 1,948.80
8″ service 2,598.40

Beginning in 1998, the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act requires all community water systems to distribute an annual Water Quality Report or Consumer Confidence Report. The reports are filed and distributed by July 1 for the previous year (see below).
