Swimming Lessons at MMA: Monday, Wednesday, Friday from July 12th - 30th.
Classes 9-9:30 (shrimp), 9:30-10 (preschool) and 10:15-11 (progressive); Classess hold a maximum of 5 children.
Cost = $35 for 6 (30 mins each); $40 for 6 (45 mins each)

Hazardous Waste Collection Day: Saturday, August 21st from 9:00 am 1:00 pm at the Ellsworth High School. Items generally accepted: household cleaners, mercury containing items, rechargeable batteries, and various chemical / organic materials. If interested you will have to obtain a permit to dispose from the Castine Town Office.
Castine Fireworks: If you'd like for the firework display to return next year we need money to fund and help with manpower. Please donate. You can find donation jars around downtown or contact teh town office. Help to BRING BACK THE BANG!
Recreation Committee Bottle/Can Drive: If you have bottle/cans to donate & support the Recreation Programs please drop off at the bin behind Emerson Hall. For more information please contact Sue Macomber at the Town Office at 326-4502. Thank you.
Summer Recycling Curb-side pick up Program: During June, July, August and September recyclables will be picked up every Tuesday. Please have your sorted recyclables out by 8AM. The town crew is now picking up and their routine is not the same as it was in previous years.

Castine Boat Pump Out Station: Located on the Acadia Dock. Pump outs are free of charge when the waterfront is staffed and at other times by appointment. Contact the Harbormaster at 207-266-7711 or radio channels 09 and 16. Primarily funded by a federal grant, administered by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection under the Clean Vessel Act.

The Castine Comprehensive Planning Committee will hold a Public Hearing at 4:00 pm, Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in Emerson Hall to obtain public comment and discuss the 2010 update of Castine’s Comprehensive Plan which has been approved by the State Planning Office. Copies of the Plan are available for review at the Town Office and online at Castine Comprehensive Plan.

Planning Board = 1 vacancy (Alternate); Historic Preservation Commission = 1 vacancy (Alternate); Board of Appeals = 2 vacancies (Alternates); Utility Board = 2 vacancies (Alternates) and Elm Tree Committee = 1 vacancy.
